New Mexico criminal defense attorney Barry Klopfer earned his B.A. degree in anthropology from Antioch College in 1997 and his J.D. degree from the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law in 2003.
During law school, Mr. Klopfer clerked for the Hon. Bonnie Wittner of the New York Supreme Court (New York County). Further, he was selected to participate in CUNY’s top-ranked Criminal Defenders Clinic, an incubator for the best criminal lawyers in the nation, and as a recipient of the Bruce Wright Fellowship for Police Brutality, he interned with Eliot Spitzer, then New York State Attorney General, in the Civil Rights Bureau.
Prior to becoming an Albuquerque criminal defence lawyer Mr. Klopfer has extensive experience both as a New Mexico prosecutor and as a public defender. He also worked with the Navajo Nation Department of Justice, focusing primarily on labor and employment law.
In 2011, Mr. Klopfer established his own law practice.
